Boot Camp Control Panel User Guide

After you use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows on your Intel-based Mac, you can set the default operating system to either macOS or Windows. The default operating system is the one you want to use when you turn on or restart your Mac.

Now the Issues started when I tried to install Windows 10 64bit got the bootcamp working and the bootable was made without any errors but when it boots and tries to install windows just after the language selection it just gets stuck on the Screen 'Setup is Starting' with an hour glass and no further activity I've tried downloading different.

  • I have a MacBook Air with OS High Sierra. I tried to install windows 10 by selecting the top and the bottom selections in Bootcamp, which installs the setup on a USB and partitions a section for windows 10. Bootcamp successfully installs it and boots into windows 10 setup. After I complete the setup, it boots into windows 10.

The Windows formatter is confusing you between the Mac partition and the Windows partition.
  • Boot camp stuck on “Apple Keyboard” for over an hour. Installing boot camp on the on the new MacBook Pro. After it boots up in windows it continues installing boot camp but has been on “Apple Keyboard” for over an hour.
  • To repair the Boot Camp drivers, follow these steps: Repair the Boot Camp drivers. Start your Mac and boot into Windows. Insert your Mac OS installation disk. If the installer window doesn’t appear automatically, click the a. Start button, click Computer. Click the drive that contains the Mac OS disk. Double-click the Boot Camp folder.

Set the default operating system

  1. In Windows on your Mac, click in the right side of the taskbar, click the Boot Camp icon , then choose Boot Camp Control Panel.

  2. If a User Account Control dialog appears, click Yes.

  3. Select the startup disk that has the default operating system you want to use.

  4. If you want to start up using the default operating system now, click Restart. Otherwise, click OK.

You can’t change your startup volume to an external drive while you’re using Windows.

In Windows on your Mac, do one of the following:

  • Restart using Startup Manager: Restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Option key. When the Startup Manager window appears, release the Option key, select your macOS startup disk, then press Return.

    If you’re using a Mac notebook computer with an external keyboard, make sure you press and hold the Option key on the built-in keyboard.

  • Restart using Boot Camp Control Panel: Click in the right side of the taskbar, click the Boot Camp icon , then choose Restart in macOS.

    This also sets the default operating system to macOS.
